About this tool

This Hindi Word Converter is a free, independently run tool for converting Word (.docx) documents between Unicode Hindi and the Kruti Dev 010 font — the non-Unicode Hindi typing font that has been in wide use across Indian government offices, courts and typing institutes for decades.

It was built out of a real, everyday problem: old Kruti Dev-typed documents that need to become searchable, editable, modern Unicode Hindi text — and modern Unicode Hindi documents that occasionally still need to go back into Kruti Dev for a printer, an old software system, or an office that hasn't moved on yet. The person behind this tool works in Hindi typing training and government document preparation, and built it to solve that problem properly rather than approximately.

That's also why the character mapping used here was audited and cross-checked, letter by letter — including the easy-to-get-wrong half-letters and conjunct ligatures — against a trusted government Kruti Dev↔Unicode reference converter, and verified with an extensive automated test suite built from real government-document sentences.

What it does

• Converts Word documents both ways (Unicode ⇄ Kruti Dev 010), preserving tables, images, headers/footers, bold/italic and colors exactly as they are.
• Reads Hindi text out of photos and scanned documents (OCR) into an editable Unicode Word file, with automatic table detection.
• Batch-converts up to 10 files at once.
• Checks the uploaded file's actual script before converting, so picking the wrong direction by mistake doesn't silently produce a corrupted file.
• Offers a quick plain-text converter for short snippets.
