The most common reason an application fails
Exam and recruitment portals reject uploads on two separate grounds and rarely say which one applied: the pixel dimensions, and the file size in kilobytes. A photo that is the right number of KB can still be refused for being the wrong shape, and a correctly shaped photo can be refused for being 8 KB too heavy. Fixing one without breaking the other by hand, minutes before a deadline, is a bad experience most applicants have had at least once.
Both constraints at once
This tool takes the dimensions you need and the size limit you have been given, and works to both. The image is scaled to the target dimensions first, then the compression is tuned until the file lands under the limit — rather than making you guess a quality percentage and re-check the file size yourself.
Typical requirements worth knowing
Indian recruitment forms are not standardised, so always read the instructions on the form itself, but the recurring shapes are a portrait photograph around 3.5 × 4.5 cm with the face filling most of the frame, and a signature in landscape with a much wider aspect ratio. Signatures are usually asked for in black ink on plain white paper, and are usually given a much tighter KB limit than the photograph.
Getting a good source image
The output can only be as good as the input. Photograph the signature in daylight, flat on white paper, from directly above rather than at an angle, and crop close before uploading. A dim, angled photo of a signature compresses into a grey smudge no matter which tool you use — this one included. Nothing you upload is stored.
